International Economic Association
17th World Congress
6-10 June 2014
The 17th World Congress of the International Economic Association (IEA) will feature the work and findings of leading scholars in economics and related fields, and will provide an excellent forum to present one’s own research results.
The Columbia Global Center of the Middle East will host the 17th World Congress of the IEA. The CGC | ME is one of the first Columbia Global Centers, a major initiative launched in 2009, by Columbia University (CU) in the City of New York to expand its international presence. The center, headquartered in Amman, provides a regional base for scholarly activities throughout the Middle East and strengthens the University’s academic partnerships and programs in the region. The center offers opportunities for faculty to engage in onsite research, for students to experience the Middle East firsthand, and for regional alumni and prospective students to engage directly with the University.
The 17th World Congress will be held at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center (KHBTCC), in theDead Sea, Jordan. The Center nestles on the eastern shores of the Dead Sea at the heart of the Jordan Rift Valley. The Dead Sea is the lowest body of water on earth, the lowest point on earth, and the world’s richest source of natural salts. One of the most spectacular natural and spiritual landscapes in the world; the Jordanian east coast of the Dead Sea has evolved into a major hub of both religious and health & wellness tourism in the region.
