The University of Agder (UiA) in Kristiansand calls for applications to its 27th annual European Integration Summer School (EISS).

Course I: History, Institutions and Policies of European Integration (June 28 – July 15)

  • Methods I: Process Tracing
  • The Political System of the European Union
  • Governance and Administration: Experimentalism in Multi-level Systems
  • EU Cohesion Policy and Enlargement
  • Norway and the European Union

Course II: The European Union in Crisis (July 19 – August 5)

  • Methods II: Comparative Methods, Research Design and Europeanization
  • EU Foreign Policy: Internal and External Challenges
  • New Intergovernmentalism? The Dynamics of the “Euro-crisis”
  • The EU and the Refugee Crisis
  • Comparative Regionalism

EISS provides an in-depth specialization in European Integration and Governance. It is organized in two Master-level courses in the summer, and a web-based course offered during the fall semester.

Each course carries 10 ECTS.

The 2016 EISS guest faculty includes, amongst others, Derek Beach (University of Århus), Federica C. Bicchi (London School of Economics), Dermot Hodson (University of London), Simona Piattoni (University of Trento), Claudio M. Radaelli (University of Exeter), Frank Schimmelfennig (ETH Zürich) and Jonathan Zeitlin (University of Amsterdam).
